The Triumph GT6 is a 6 cylinder sports coupe built by Triumph, based on their popular Triumph Spitfire convertible. The talented Italian stylist Giovanni Michelotti was essentially Triumph's house designer in the early 1960s. Triumph substituted the 2.0 liter six from the Vitesse and thus had a fairly refined little GT to compete with the newly introduced 1966 MGB GT. Production ran from 1966 to 1973. Mk1 Gt6's had a handling problem. Their response came with the 1969 model year, with the introduction of the GT6 Mk II/ GT6+. The rear suspension was significantly re engineered using reversed lower wishbones and Rotoflex driveshaft couplings. There were other changes for the Mk II. The front bumper was raised to conform to new crash regulations, side vents were added to the front wings and rear pillars. Under the bonnet, the engine was an uprated Vitesse MkII unit developing 104 bhp with a new cylinder head, camshaft, and manifolds. The major changes were altered valve timing and larger inlet valves, with an increase to the width of the head. Performance improved slightly to 107 mph, and 060 mph time dropped to 10 seconds. The fuel economy was also improved to 25 mpg.

This 1970 Triumph GT6+ has been with the previous family for many years. As far as we know and were told, the engine that is in the car is the original. It is a 2.0 liter engine with dual stromberg carburetors. The engine does start off of pouring some as into the carburetors. Hasn't been on the road for many years. Comes with factory disc brakes on the front and drum brakes in the rear. Has all five original wheels with all four hubcaps. Has the original steering wheel. The paint on the vehicle looks to be the original color and the interior is the original. The bonnet on the car is fiberglass. We do have a steel bonnet that comes with the sale. This vehicle is a solid car.

The interior of the vehicle is all there other than the radio. The interior will have to be restored. Factory gauges are there and the dash has been uncut. The seats are the originals to the vehicle. Has manual windows. There is one piece of door glass that is missing, the remainder of the glass is all there. All the chrome for the car is there. This vehicle originally came out of the dry state of Arizona. Has a clean title. These GT6+ Triumph's are going up in value and are getting harder to find. Would make a great restoration project.
