1968 Triumph Spitfire For Sale
Triumph Spitfires were first introduced in 1962. Triumph had decided to make the spitfire to compete with the Austin Healey sprite. The spitfire was named to honor the world war II fighter plane. In 1967 the Mark III spitfire was released. It was the first major facelift for this model. 1967 was the first year for the spitfire to have a folding convertible top rather than the build it yourself frame the previous cars had. The engine was upgraded from an 1150 cc engine to a 1300 cc engine. With the twin SU carburetors the cars made about 75 hp and 75 lb ft of torque.
This 1968 Triumph Spitfire was with the previous owner for about ten years. The vehicles engine does turn freely by hand. The car isn't currently running. Has the original 1300 cc engine with a four speed manual gearbox. An option for these cars in 1968 were wire wheels which this car has. Previous owner installed a new gas tank right after he purchased it.
Gauges are all there, seats are there and so is the soft top frame which moves freely. The glass is all there and in good condition. Floors on the car are solid. This vehicle is very solid and will not require much rust repair. California car with a clean title. Some additional parts are included and are in the last photo. Very cheap english sports car that would be a fun project.
